What energy and its transformations means

You learn how different forms of energy are linked and how one can change into another. This helps you explain everyday events such as a torch lighting up, food giving the body power, or water at a dam producing electricity.

Common mistakes to avoid

• Mixing up the source of energy with the form produced. Check both stages carefully.
• Forgetting that a battery stores chemical energy before a torch gives light. Think of the change step by step.
• Calling moving water electricity. Moving water first provides energy that can be used to generate electricity.
• Naming only one output from a torch. Remember that some energy also becomes heat.
