Working: A tree grows and needs water, so it is living.

Common mistakes to avoid

Thinking a rock is living because it is found outdoors. Remember, it does not grow or breathe.
Calling all moving things living. A car moves, but it is not alive.
Forgetting that living things need food and water. Check for growth and needs first.
Mixing up plants and objects. A tree is living, but a chair is not.
