What the CAPE is
The Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination is the pre-university qualification offered by CXC, sat after CSEC in sixth form or at community college. It is organised into Units rather than whole subjects, each Unit built from modules that are examined and certified in their own right.
CAPE is a genuine step up in abstraction. Pure Mathematics Unit 1 in particular asks students to move from procedure to argument — to justify, not just to compute — which is exactly the shift that catches strong CSEC candidates off guard.
Our CAPE practice is currently limited to Pure Mathematics Unit 1. It is deliberately narrow and honestly labelled: a focused drilling set for the Unit 1 modules, not a full CAPE programme.

How SmartScore works
Every skill begins on a SmartScore of 0. Nothing is assumed about what you already know, so the score reflects your work and nothing else.
A correct answer pushes the score up; a wrong one pulls it back. Harder questions move the score further, so guessing your way up is not possible.
A worked explanation appears after each question — right or wrong — so the score rises because your understanding rose, not because you memorised an answer key.
A SmartScore of 100 means the skill is mastered. Your dashboard shows which skills are done and which still need work, so revision time goes where it counts.
CAPE modules are certified separately, so treat each cluster of skills as its own target. Taking every algebra and functions skill to 100 before touching calculus mirrors how the Unit is actually assessed.

Does it cover Unit 2 as well?
Not currently. The available skills target Unit 1 modules — algebra and functions, trigonometry and introductory calculus. The counts on this page update automatically if that changes.
Are these past CAPE papers?
No. All questions are written by us in CAPE Paper 1 style against the Unit 1 module topics. Nothing is reproduced from CXC papers.
I have just finished CSEC. Where should I start?
Start with the algebra and functions skills. Almost every difficulty students hit later in Unit 1 traces back to shaky algebraic manipulation, so it is worth taking those to 100 first.
