You work out how much space a shape takes up and how far round it goes. This helps you solve measurement questions for rectangles, triangles and circles in everyday problems and school tests.
You should already know the difference between length, width, base and height. You also need to be able to multiply simple whole numbers and read centimetre units correctly.

Working: Area of a rectangle = length × width = 8 × 5 = 40 cm².
