What solve two-step equations means

You work with equations where the unknown is hidden by addition or subtraction and then by multiplication or division. This helps you build the algebra skills needed to check answers and solve word problems confidently.

Common mistakes to avoid

Changing only one side of the equation. Always do the same operation on both sides.
Doing the steps in the wrong order. Remove addition or subtraction before division or multiplication.
Forgetting the negative sign in subtraction problems. Watch the sign carefully before moving on.
Not checking the final answer. Substitute x back into the equation to confirm it works.
